Velvet punch f3 info:
Lineage:
F1 cross made by @Vegan_Doja aka @DojaDNA ~ Velvet punch is a cross of "Purple Punch" female and "Cookie 7" male.
"Purple Punch" =(Larry OG x Grand Daddy Purple) x "Cookie 7"= (Thin Mint Girl scout cookies x “Black Velvet Kush” [Mexican sativa x chem 4] x OG kush)
@Jackgreenstalk selected male and female from f1 seeds from dojaDNA to make f2s, tested then did the same with f2 to make f3 which are the seeds currently available and described here.
There are 4 structural phenotypes, all of which produce similar chemotypes in my garden. the chemotype of the f3s have potential for:
high: balanced head and body, relaxed, contemplative, happy/positive
side effects; cottonmouth munchies aka dry mouth + increased appetite, expectorant
Max Potency Potential 9/10
Average Potency 8-8.5/10
smell: fuel, earth, wood (pine), sour grape flavor upfront: fuel, floral, earthy (loamy pine) [“loam is a sweet, dark earth odor, but less pungent than potting soil and not as aromatic as truffles“]
exhale/subtle/later hits: grape/grape candy, wine, pine, leather, watermelon floral grape+gassy taste left on palate Later in the cure pine taste and subtle pine aromas are also present
All 4 may be slightly slower from seed then typical f1 hybrids. They pick up growth rate in late veg. They are average to above average growth rate in flower, see below.
in terms of morphological traits I've noted 4 types. 2 phenos double in height vs veg size, the other 2 nearly 3x their veg size. the 4 phenos also have distinct 2 bud types. one is more dense, like a cookie or tight golf ball nug structure with the buds getting little "crowns" on top of the golf ball, like a tiny premature foxtail but its not foxtailed at all its super dense. this structure showed in 2x pheno and in 3x height pheno. the other 2 structures were more like an og, or chem dog kind of pine cone bud, not super loose, but a bit more air flow, more triangle shaped buds like if OG kush was purple. both nug structures yielded very similarly for dry flower, the dense buds looked like less but weighs up almost exactly the same per plant...
so (TLDR) Too long, didn't read above; 4 types = tall and tight, average and tight, tall and purple pine cone buds, average purple pine cone buds. all purpled in mid 20s to 30s in flower and get darker all the way to harvest. Harvest window of 8.5-10 weeks but visually looked like they can be taken at 7 or 8 weeks (if earlier harvest expect more 50/50 effects maybe even more uplifting) 60/40 sedating /uplifting effects- Mostly milky, some amber trichomes, majority of “hairs” (stigmas/pistils) turned orange. Slightly sweeter candy grape flavors at earlier harvest, more complex wine grape later on.
*Warning, Some f2 testers have reported hermies under following conditions: Light leaking, over fertilization, small pots too long/root bound or growing past harvest window... But the genetics I am working with are very good, so despite the occasional issues, I feel the seeds are well worth sharing as all mothers and studs were absolutely exceptional plants. The majority of testers have NOT found hermies or plants with intersex traits (male flowers on female plants), and even some of the gardens with hermies had several non hermie phenos. Roughly 7.4% of Growers of velvet punch f2 seeds found at least 1 male flower. 4 growers out of 54 who flowered VPF2 found at least 1 in 5 to 10 seeds popped. 50/54 or 92.6% of f2 growers found 0 intersex traits in 5 to 10 seeds grown thru flower. *
Hand selected, bred and grown in organic soils, packaged in glass vial with cork in honor of @dojaDNA tradition for minimal impact also use recycled un-popped bubble wrap in efforts to minimize impact of packaging.
